I just bought this:
I haven't read the thing through yet, but it looks pretty good. It certainly doesn't have the budget that the other football/sports mags do, but in a way its charm is its homegrown feel -- the catch phrase of the magazine is a "supporters' supporter magazine". In other words, their main aim is to have the perspective of the supporters of the J and non league in mind when they build the issue. continues

Sorry about the week-long absence from the blog. Thank god the rest of my life decided to interfere in my blog duties just at the right moment -- when there wasn't a whole lot to report from the world of Japanese football. Usually it's the other way round, isn't it?
On with the show, then, shall we?
NABISCO CUP 2nd Leg Saturday
Jubilo Iwata 2-2 Jef Chiba: Jef Chiba move to the Semi-Finals
Jubilo came into this 2nd game one goal behind Chiba. From the comments Jubilo Manager Yamamoto made after the game, it sounds like they got a bit too careful in the first half of the game. Yamamoto said he had wanted to see more overlapping movement from the midfield and back lines, but the initial mindset of not allowing Jef to score worked against them. Jubilo were unable to stop NT rookies fw Maki and mf Abe from scoring (Maki's diving header and a FK beaut from Abe) and allowing Jef an advantageous total goal differential. It was all Jubilo could do to come back after letting Jef get ahead. Personally Jef have been playing a much more interesting game this season, and I'm glad that if they don't have much chance in the league at least they have a chance at the Nabisco Cup. This is the first time in 7 years that Jef made it to the best four in the Nabisco. continues
